Rick’s first collaborative project features his custom camo print on a Quinton cap and a Burn Rubber Tee. Rick is one of the most creative dudes I know and his new venture is shaping up to be something great.

After Vegas, I made a pit stop in Los Angeles to catch some meetings. During my visit I was surprised with a special gift from Eddie Cruz of Undefeated / Supreme LA. Undefeated has created a collection of retooled Puma Clydes that will be released soon and produced a super premium gift version for friends and family. I was lucky enough to be on that list!

The following is what happens when I get on the phone with DJ Clark Kent.

The Concepts Canada Goose vest has to be the design project I’m most proud of. To design not only the fabric and color usage but to actually modify and add onto a product like this one was an amazing experience.

When Clark and I were on the phone talking shoes (happens quite often) the conversation turned to my new vest then took a left turn to possibly using the same material as the vest on a pair of bespoke Air Force Ones. Possible to get extra material? How would it look?

Deon and I met Clark & Mayor at 21 Mercer and got to work. Each of us did something different with the same materials.

The material is called Arctic-Tech and it is a water proof shell developed by Canada Goose for use on their outerwear.

I’m digging the final product and am happy about how it went down!

My boys at Commonwealth in DC hooked me up with the ill goodie box. Those are my people and that shop has been a major force since the day they opened the first shop in VA.

The collaboration tees they did with HR from Bad Brains / Human Rights are crazy.

My Paisans at Gourmet always send out tomato sauce for holiday gifts. Food is not a joke with them. Love it!

My Concepts NB 999 made the cover of Sneaker Freaker Magazine— amazing honor. Proud of that shoe.

Finally had the chance to hit the bespoke lab at the Nike Sportswear store at 21 Mercer. This wasn’t the normal visit— we were on a mission. Can’t wait to show ya’ll what we came up with— we as in Me, Clark Kent, Mayor and Deon Point.

All in a days work!

I was at Agenda in San Diego a couple years back when I met these 2 Detroit boys– Rick and Ro. It started as the normal “dope shop”, “good stuff”, “blah blah blah” and all that non sense courtesy babble you have with people at trade shows. We stayed in touch and it has become a real friendship — those 2 dudes from Detroit are now my brothers.

Rick and I talk everyday about design, family and life. When I talk to Rick I can hear the passion for design and success. He has a drive and will to grow that is contagious. He keeps me on my toes and reminds me why we do this.

I remember picking up those Burn Rubber guys at the airport in Boston to bring them over to New Balance. Rick had every detail of the shoe covered — model, color and material. While I talked shit and distracted everyone, Rick slid in and created one of the best New Balance collaborations in recent history. An amazing shoe from an amazing brand and shop.

To my brothers— the first “one” is special but may your last “one” always be the your best “one”. I’m am looking forward to your next best “one”!
